Understanding current workforce challenges in human services sectors has been increasingly highlighted in the media. This has provided opportunities to explore the collaborative work of the HSSO’s work with employers and training organisations. Together we are collectively addressing the significant skills shortages and gaps in the human services workforce. Channel 9 recently interviewed our CEO Jodi Schmidt to discuss the growth in service demand, staff turnover and additional roles required in the health and care industry.
There was also interest in the disconnect between the training options available and the skills required for human services sector roles. Jodi highlighted how the HSSO is working with industry and key stakeholders to attract, skill and retain staff, and generate improvements to the national training system. Similar media coverage has been provided in several local newspapers around the country.
