Mandatory Work Placements Guide

This guide has been developed to support quality experiences for mandatory work placements for students completing the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015). The guide is for employers, registered training organisations and learners to make the most of the experience.

Preparing students for work
It’s critical that students preparing for work in the human services sectors are exposed to real workplaces and real clients as part of their studies. To support consistency and quality of these experiences we’ve developed the mandatory work placements guide for employers, registered training organisations and learners.

Mandatory work placements guide
Work in the disability and aged care sectors is unique, rewarding, and challenging. Many of the required skills and behaviours are hard to teach in a classroom, so it’s critical that students preparing for work in these sectors are exposed to real workplaces and real clients as part of their studies.

The Preparing Students for Work – Certificate III in Individual Support Work Placement Guide has been designed for employers, registered training organisations (RTO) and learners to support and simplify the mandatory workplace requirements (MWR) process for the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015).

Drawing on input from stakeholders across the disability and aged care sectors, it provides practical information and advice in the form of:

  • tips
  • resources
  • templates
  • further reading and support

The guide is a useful resource in helping all parties understand their respective roles and responsibilities in implementing the work placement component of the Certificate III in Individual Support (CHC33015), and ensure it works well for all involved.
