Findings from the sector: The Human Services Workforce Forum report

The HSSO mandate is to find sector solutions to attracting and skilling a pipeline of potential employees to meet the needs of the nation’s employers as and when they need it.  The Human Services Workforce Forum report provides an overview of the key themes that emerged in our 2021 series of forums with employers and training organisations around specific and systemic issues faced by human services providers and training organisations. Almost 500 people attended the workforce forums nationally, representing employers, sector peak bodies and registered training organisations.

Qualitative analysis of the forums revealed seven main areas of concern for employers which included

• recruitment,
• working conditions,
• employee value proposition,
• workforce pipeline,
• ongoing training and development,
• career pathways and
• new worker training initiatives.
