Successful relationships in early childcare education and care

This case study highlights what committed partnership looks like between an early childhood care provider and an RTO. This is illustrated through the partnership between the College for Australian Early Childhood Educators, an employer-driven RTO,  and Scholar’s Consulting, part of a boutique childcare industry specialist management, development and consulting service.

Key insights include:

  • Establishing clear communications and expectations at the start sets up the partners for effective communications and improved learning outcomes for students.
  • Mutual commitment to the student is made from both partners, such as the RTOs being transparent about student support, course sizes, and frequency of direct student interaction, and the employers committing to giving students time away from job duties to full engage in their learning.
  • The partners share a Learning Management system, enabling employers to be involved in every step of the student’s learning journey. This enables employers to add support if needed when students struggle, and to celebrate achievements with the student.
  • Mutual committed engagement to the student’s learning leads to quality outcomes and mutual benefits for all partners and students, which ultimately benefits clients and the sector.
