Early Career Launch into Work Program

The ‘Early Career Program’ is a initiative of The Disability Trust.

The Disability Trust in the Illawarra region sought to prepare, train and trial potential individual support worker trainees across a person-centered, caring and inclusive environment.

In collaboration with the Wesley Vocational Institute, a vocational and non-accredited training program was offered to a group of eligible, suitable and genuinely interested young people aged between 19 and 24 years looking for a career opportunity at The Disability Trust.

The IllawarraYES program brought together Training Services NSW Smart and Skilled funding and Department of Jobs and Small Business Launch into Work funding to provide eligible youth job seekers in the Illawarra region with a tailored and supported pathway into employment.

IllawarraYES program participants:

• Completed 5 accredited units of competence
• Completed workplace specific training
  and employability skills development
  (non-accredited)
• Completed supervised placements with
  an experienced supervisor and trained
  mentor
