Community Support Worker Launch into Work Program

The Community Support Worker Launch into Work Program was facilitated through  a collaboration between Selmar Institute of Education (RTO), Ternary (recruitment agency) and Calvary (employer).

The Launch into Work collaboration enabled Ternary  to use its referral networks to identify great candidates for Calvary (Employer).

Their goal was to match job seekers with likeminded values and attributes suited to specific aged care jobs within Calvary, and then develop their skills and experience for the roles through participation in a pre-employment program.

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Selmar Institute of Education helped to design the pre-employment programs alongside Ternary and then helped to support candidates through the intensive training program. Selmar Institute of Education aimed to ensure the needs of both the employer and job seeker were met.

While the individuals each had an industry recognised qualification, they had all been unable to find permanent aged care jobs for reasons such as lack of confidence, perceived discrimination, financial disadvantage and poor past experiences in the aged care industry.

Through the recruiting process, participants were chosen based on attitude, personality, passion and those with an enthusiasm to change their future.
